The auto white balance in artificial light is much-improved over the XZ-1.ġ0. At first glance I am not sure whether it offers any visible improvement at base ISO, or even whether the files are as good as the XZ-1's.ĩ. The sensor delivers the promised 1+ stop improvement in noise and general quality at high ISO. Pity, since this is my most-used set-up with m4/3.Ĩ. They made auto ISO work over a user-selectable range (like the Oly m4/3 cameras great!) but it looks, unless I can find a way around it, as though it does not share the ability of those cameras to use auto ISO and manual exposure. The AF feels a bit faster than that of the XZ-1, but unfortunately it also locks focus less reliably, which makes it a lot slower in use. It has the SCP (great!), unlike the XZ-1.Ħ. You really notice the extra thickness - it feels completely different in the hand.ĥ. I never stop down the lens on any camera with a sensor as small as this unless I absolutely have to.I find this is important in preserving sharpness.ġ. In the absence of a whole load of comparative info, I might post my own comparison sometime. I have just ordered an XZ-2 to replace my XZ-1. It's to low to even think about any other camera. Hard-to-find line edited this topic 115 months ago. I do not consider the XZ-2 to be pocketable. The reason why I chose XZ-10 over the XZ-2 or even XZ-1 is simply its size. Grad: Normal (depends on situation of course)į8 doesnt bring any improvement and just introduced unsharpness. My conclusion is that I like the JPEG OOC quality best if set to:Ĭolor Mode: Natural (I liked vivid and muted as well, though! I will have to test the JPEG setting in those modes, too. I have checked image quality on different F-Stops (among other parameters) in this set: The only reasonably solid info I can see suggests that the XZ-2 sensor is about a stop better at high ISO than the XZ-1 and the XZ-10 shows more fringing.Ĭan anyone add anything that will inform any buying decision as the XZ-2 and XZ-10 prices begin to fall?Īnd has anyone seen any significant gossip about the next generation of XZ yet?Īs can be expected, you can eliminate it by stepping down a bit. I've been looking on and off for all the time since the XZ-2 and XZ-10 were announced to try to get an idea how their output compares to that of my XZ-1, which in terms of usage has definitely been my favourite camera for the last two and a half years.
