![]() ![]() After dozens of additional crashes during the 2019 tax season, I had finally had enough and cancelled my account. Thanks for listening to my warning.Īfter wasting way too much time over several years to get their system to work properly, I finally realized that I'd been giving into a sunk cost fallacy. I contacted an attorney to find out if they are required by law to give me access to my data. It is an outrage, and might I suggest that while you might feel your data is safely stored, you can’t have it once you don’t need their services anymore. I’ve been a client of theirs for many years, possibly over a decade or more, I purchased 3 scanners from them (no longer usable due to updates, which happens as technology progresses), but now I’m being extorted out of money for perhaps 7 years (based upon IRS rules for keeping receipts). And they cannot be downloaded in a batch. They offered me the option of downloading each receipt one at a time. So even if I don’t need their services anymore, I have to pay for them. So, if I get an IRS audit, or need other documentation that has been scanned, I can’t access them unless I continue to subscribe to their service. However, unless I continue paying, I don’t have access to the receipts and documents I have scanned. So, I wanted to end my monthly subscription. After Covid and retirement, I no longer need their services. Except…….now comes “Extortion” from the company. It worked fine, and I have thousands of receipts stored. The idea is to scan documents and receipts, or photograph them, so you can be paperless. ![]() I have used NEAT since it was Neat Receipts. Could scan receipts as I get them, and toss the paper CONS If this is something you would like to do, then please open a case here: Finally, while Neat has transitioned into focusing on our cloud application and tools for financial management for small businesses, you can continue to use your Neat scanner for FREE using the Neat Scan Utility.Worked fine but have to pay for service I don't need to keep data PROSĮasy to use, fast, quick accurate. If the data can be restored, we would recommend that you move your data out of the Legacy Neat Software immediately to avoid future data loss. We can't guarantee that we will be able to recover anything, but it's worth a shot. I wasn't able to pull up any account data or case history for you, however, if you still have access to an old Legacy backup or database files then we can provide a one-time courtesy support session where an agent can attempt to assist you to recover that data from one of these old versions. By choosing to continue to use the Neat Legacy software you take full responsibility for your data and take on the risk of losing that data. We have encouraged Legacy users for years to move their data out of these old versions because inevitably newer operating systems would eventually render these versions obsolete. Since the retirement of the Neat Legacy software, our message is and has always been, that any customer who still has the Legacy software can continue to use it as is, however, it is at your own risk as we do not provide any support for these versions. We've sent out dozens of communications about this, made a formal announcement to the market about this, and have had details about the retirement of this software version on our support site for 8 years. That version of the software was retired over 8 years ago and has not received updates or enhancements since then. Neat has not suddenly stopped supporting that software. It appears you're referring to the old retired Neat Legacy software that came for free with a purchased Neat scanner. ![]()
